Well, with the start of the 112th Congressional session upon us, I thought I'd reflect a bit on the last two weeks of holiday festivities and travel.

Our Christmas celebration began the Wednesday morning when we woke up and looked down at the Christmas tree in the living room to see a brand new toy grocery cart and a stocking full of goodies. I'll confess to you now that at that particular moment, I really wasn't entirely sure what was going on. I think mommy was a little disappointed who really wanted me to be jumping up and down with enthusiasm at the site of gifts under the tree. Once I got downstairs and had my morning milk (Baba had his morning coffee), we headed over to the tree and I began to open various presents. In time, I got the hang of it. We had a yummy breakfast (eggnog French toast - tasty tasty) and then lounged around a bit before we headed out to Rochester for the first leg of our trip.

Once in Rochester, we visited with aunts, uncles, cousins and old friends. Lots and lots of socializing. I spent some quality time with Yiayia and Pappou and Theo Strat. We celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve - went to church, had a yummy dinner (with lots of munchies, including cheese!) and opened gifts. Now I was getting the hang of it. The next morning - Christmas - we'd begin the second leg of our Christmas journey to Oswego.

We arrived in Oswego Christmas morning about mid-morning, and I headed straight for the tree. You see, by now I had fully grasped the concept of "opening gifts." I opened lots and lots of gifts yet again, then headed for a nap (I was beat!). When I woke up after lunch I opened a few remaining gifts and settled in for snacking and dinner.
We left Oswego, came home, then loaded up for the third and final leg of our northeast 'Christmas tour' and headed to Connecticut to visit with Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Brooks, aunts, uncles and my cousin Jack. Again, I received gifts. What a deal, right?

Once back home we had a couple lazy afternoons (which were actually a lot of fun) and then we got ready for our guests - including my friend Wilson (who's almost two!) and my new friend Kaya (who's just over a month old) - to ring in the new year.
Today, reality began to sink in. When I went back to school this morning, Baba discovered that I had been "moved up" to the toddler room (which we anticipated). Nevertheless, we had a great Christmas and New Years with so many people we love - family and friends.
Happy New Year! Here's hoping 2011 is as much fun - and filled with many "firsts" - as 2010!
